You can read more about BBL for skin rejuvenation here. However, did you know that BBL also provides superior results for hair removal? Here’s a list of our top 10 questions we get asked about our BBL technology as it pertains to hair removal.
What is the difference BBL and other light based hair removal technologies?
BBL utilizes a diverse range of wavelengths offering more targeted and precise treatment parameters. It is considered more advanced and versatile, with the ability to target hair follicles at a deeper level for enhanced results.
What’s the difference between BBL treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal?
BBL treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal differ in terms of their target and desired outcome. BBL for skin rejuvenation targets specific skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, redness, acne, and fine lines. On the other hand, BBL for hair removal specifically targets the hair follicles to reduce hair growth and achieve long-lasting hair reduction.
How does laser hair removal work?
A specific wavelength of light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, which then heats up the hair follicle and damages it. This process, known as selective photothermolysis, specifically targets hair follicles to inhibit hair growth, while sparing the surrounding skin.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal can provide long-term hair reduction; however, some touch up sessions may be required over time.
Is laser hair removal painful?

How many sessions of laser hair removal are typically needed?
The number of sessions required may vary depending on factors such as your hair color, thickness, and the area being treated. However, most individuals achieve satisfactory results with a series of 4-6 treatments.
Can laser hair removal cause hair to grow back thicker or darker?
MYTH! Laser hair removal is designed to permanently reduce hair growth, but it does not cause hair to grow back thicker or darker. (Fun fact: This is also a myth for dermaplaning (or shaving) vellus hair from your face, as shaving cannot change the root of the hair follicle, therefore your peach fuzz will remain the same when it grows back.)
Are there any at-home devices for hair removal that are equally as effective?
While there are many at-home hair removal devices available on the market, professional laser hair removal machines are more powerful and offer better control and safety features. So our short answer is a hard NO.
What is the preparation before a laser hair treatment?
Before a laser hair removal treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure, shave the treatment area, and refrain from waxing or plucking hair for several weeks.
Is there any downtime or recovery after laser hair removal?
There is typically little to no downtime or recovery period required. Most people can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. However, it’s common to experience some mild redness or irritation in the treated area, which should fade within a few hours. It is however, important to stay out of the sun for one full week following treatment, and to use SPF if you have sun exposure for two weeks after.
